William Dalton
Music Teacher
Mr. Dalton has been teaching music at a variety of public and private educational institutions on Long Island and NYC since 1996. Mr. Dalton was a NYSSMA All-State Trumpeter in 1990 prior to earning his Bachelor’s Degree in Music at George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia, followed by his M.A.L.S. at Suny Stony Brook. Additionally, Mr. Dalton has trained intensively in West African and Caribbean Drumming, earning his World Music Drumming Level I in July 2018. Mr. Dalton has held down trumpet parts with the Atlantic Wind Symphony, Huntington Community Band, Lindenhurst Brass Band, and the Choral Society of the Moriches’ seasonal productions of Handel’s Messiah. Mr. Dalton continues to develop his technique on the Piano; he particularly enjoys practicing the Ragtime Piano music of Scott Joplin. When he is not behind a Trumpet, Piano keyboard, or computer keyboard, he can be found changing his altitude! An avid alpinist, Mr. Dalton has summited all of the major peaks in the Northeast in summer and winter (via snowshoe and crampon), and then pushed even higher to the Colorado “14ers”: Blanca Peak (14,351’); Crestone Peak (14,300’); Culebra Peak (14,053’) in the Sangre de Cristo range, and Castle Peak (14,279’) in the Elk range. Future climbing projects will bring him to the glaciated ranges of the Pacific-Northwest and Alaska. Mr. Dalton resides in Eastern Long Island with his wife, Kathleen, and children Moira and Ryan.
