Diana Georges

Strategic Reading Teacher

Ms. Georges is a woman of style and grace. She is hard-working and is full of integrity.  She is someone that is admired as a mother, person, educator, and leader.  She does everything to the best of her ability and is talented in so many ways.  She goes from Zumba, to entrepreneur, to mother, to world-class educator.  She is someone that everyone respects and loves!  Village Academy would not be the same without her. Ms. Georges got her B.A. in secondary education and English in 2005 and her masters degree in reading  instruction in 2010. She started working for the DOE in 2007 and found her home at Village in 2013. In 2017 she got her own department and started leading the Strategic Reading curriculum and team. Her team has won the “best team” award in 2018 and all of  her students have moved up 2 or more grade levels in reading. Her love for reading  is evident in her teaching, students, and classroom culture. She has created a reading corner for students to enjoy and constantly encourages students to find a love for reading. In addition to teaching, Ms. Georges also oversees the cheerleading team where she encourages sisterhood, athletics, academics and teamwork. Her favorite quote is “First you must learn how to read then you read to learn.” as well as “Everytime you turn a page a tree smiles because it knows there’s life after death!”
