Johanna Gimenez
Humanities Teacher
Johanna Gimenez decided that a career in education was right for her later on in life. After graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in Communication and Production from NYIT she began a career in a corporate environment. Although rewarding, she knew something was missing in her life. She comes from a family of educators and with their support she took a leap of faith and joined the NYC Collaborative program in 2018. Mrs. Gimenez earned her Master’s in Education in Special and General Education from St. John’s University and has been teaching full time the past 3 years in the Queens district. Through education her passion for helping others has only grown stronger. Mrs. Gimenez is especially proud of her ability to build strong relationships with her students and families. Her motto for her students is “Always believe in yourself and try your best”. She is back at Village Academy for the 2020/2021 school year as a 6th grade Humanities teacher. After starting her teaching career as a student teacher at VA she is happy to be joining the VA family again! She resides in Kings Park, NY and enjoys spending time with her husband (Stefan), 3 children (Sophia, Daniel and Tristan), family and friends. In the summer you can usually find them all at the lake, beach, pool or traveling and enjoying the great outdoors. She hopes to inspire her students and children that in life it is never too late to reach for your dreams or discover new ones!
