Naudia Lawrence

Science Teacher

Naudia Lawrence was born and raised in in the island of Jamaica. She received a B.Sc. in Chemistry and a B.Sc. in Education from the University of the West Indies in Kingston, Jamaica. After graduating, she worked at the Jamaica Racing Commission (JRC) testing active racehorses for banned substances. She later transitioned into Food Chemistry where she worked as a Quality Control Inspector (QCI) at the Jamaica Biscuit Company. She worked in this position for 5 years before immigrating to the United States.

Since being in the United States, Mrs. Lawrence became a certified chemistry teacher and received a M.SC in Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment as well as a M.Sc. in Educational Administration. Her passion for Education came from being inspired by her high school Chemistry teacher. After failing Chemistry and completely giving up, this new teacher gave her hope and the inspiration to succeed. It was a life changing experience that inspired her to do the same for other students. That inspiration persisted through college where she was the only person in her class to graduate with a B.Sc. in Chemistry together with a B.Sc.  in Education. Ms. Lawrence has been a Science teacher at Village Academy for 8 years and values the relationships she has formed with her students each year. She is dedicated to making learning accessible to all students regardless of who they are as learners or the circumstances they may face.
