Dear Village Academy Families, I hope this letter finds you well! It is with great joy and excitement that I introduce myself as the new Assistant Principal at Village Academy. My name is Priscilla Gooden, and I am truly honored to become part of this wonderful school community. As I step into this new role, I bring with me over a decade of experience working in the New York City Department of Education at a middle school within the same district. I began my journey as an ELA teacher, a role I cherished for several years. During that time, I discovered my passion for helping students find their voices through reading and writing, and I learned the profound impact that a caring classroom where high expectations meet unwavering support can have on young learners. Following my years in the classroom, I transitioned into the role of dean, where I continued to support students in different ways, helping them navigate challenges, celebrate successes, and develop the attitudes and behaviors necessary for their academic and personal growth. Now, as I begin this exciting chapter at Village Academy, my greatest priority is building strong, meaningful relationships with every student and family. I value open communication and partnership between home and school. I am eager to get to know each of you, to learn about your hopes and dreams for your children, and to work alongside you in supporting them. Please know that my door is always open. Whether you have questions, ideas, or simply want to connect, I welcome the opportunity to hear from you. Together, we will create an environment where every child feels valued, supported, and inspired to reach their fullest potential. I look forward to meeting you all and to the wonderful journey ahead! Warmest regards, Priscilla Gooden Assistant Principal
